Restorative Care

When teeth have been affected by cavities, trauma, developmental defects, or other problems, we have many options for restorations. Some of these include:

  • White Fillings (Composite Fillings): These are placed in teeth after the decayed portion of a tooth has been removed. These are amazing materials that match the natural color of a tooth and are virtually undetectable. White fillings are used when cavities are smaller in size, in both baby and permanent teeth.
  • Nerve Treatments (Pulpotomy or Pulpectomy): When the cavity inside a tooth reaches the inside, or nerve of the tooth, it becomes necessary to clean out the inside of a tooth. This is a procedure to maintain the life of a tooth without having a nerve inside and is a successful procedure for teeth with larger and deep cavities.
  • Crowns: When cavities progress to many sides of a single tooth, or the tooth has had a cavity that has entered the nerve, it loses strength and could lead to eventually tooth loss. A crown is a made of a strong material that covers the whole tooth. It gives the tooth strength and protection to function as a normal tooth.
  • Space Maintainer: If a baby back tooth is prematurely lost, the space can close up as the neighboring teeth “fall” into that space. A space maintainer is a small metal wire that attaches around the tooth next to the space and extends over the space to prevent it from closing up. This allows the permanent tooth under the space enough room to come in at its normal eruption time.
  • Bleaching: We offer tooth bleaching to improve the brightness of your child’s smile. This process involves making comfortable plastic trays than go over your upper and lower teeth, and using a safe bleaching agent to rest against the teeth in the trays. This process may need to be repeated in the future as the bleaching agent is slowly released from the teeth over time.
